Inside the Personality of Me (Owen)

Inside the Personality of Me (Owen)

by Owen Fitzpatrick in Mental Adventures

Usually it takes a bunch of posts to get to know the poster. So for those of you who want to save time here’s a quick list to get to know me better:

1. I am tragically flawed. I am not perfect nor do I profess to be. In fact I have a list of testimonials of how this is true from my nearest and dearest. I decided it would be in my best interest not to put those online! So on this site you can pretty much see the good stuff about me.

2. I don’t believe in either being too positive or a negative head. Whining about the state of things and passing on numbingly empty ‘inspiring’ quotes are equally poisonous to me. Make me laugh, make me think or teach me something. I’d prefer to hear that you are having a cup of tea in your pyjamas rather than you quoting poor old Henry Ford… Again.

3. Along with my buddy Brian Colbert I like to rant about stupid stuff and over exaggerate things to make them funny. This is not us ‘unloading’ or ‘catharticisizing”. Rather, we are just ranting to help people laugh at things. If you can’t laugh you’re stuck.

4. I am the kind of guy that people either like, hate…. or think I’m ok.

5. I find most things funny. Tragically not everyone gets my sense of humor through the web…. Or in real life. I am actually hysterically funny. Honest.

6. I am unapologetically apologetic, deceivingly honest and exhaustingly energetic.

7. I do care if you like me or hate me… But not as much as you might think.

8. I am not ‘better’ than anyone else. I am just different in a more successful way. ;-)

9. I can speak for a long time and not say anything at all.

10. If you hear something bad about me that isn’t on this list it’s either true and coming from my best friends or lies from someone who has been impersonating me or cyberstalking me with hate email for a while. Sigh

11. I don’t have fans. I have some people who like my style of writing or teaching. I’m not a guru. It’s not that I would have a problem with it… The wealth and adoration would be nice. It’s just I am far too blatantly flawed, couldn’t do it with a straight face for long enough and I don’t look good in those kind of clothes.

12. Although I have strong loyalty and don’t apologize for that, I only recommend what I believe in. Loyalty is built on me being impressed in the first place. So if I say someone or something is great I believe it.

13. When I die, I want to be known for living life to the full, experiencing as much as I could and making a positive impact on as many people as possible. There are a few things I’m good at and I do my best to walk my talk on all I teach.

14. I hate the thought that I have hurt anyone. If I have hurt you in life I’m sorry. Genuinely.

15. I like praise and external validation but not as much as you might think. Is that ok?

16. OFI is called what it is because it was a decision as to whether or not I should name a company something with one or two fancy words, make up a new field based on what I know which would just be another field in a field with far too many fields… Or name a company after myself. Just calling it Owen Fitzpatrick would confuse people.. Owen Fitzpatrick n Associates sounded too much like a solicitors or law firm… Owen Fitzpatrick Services sounded a bit dodgy… Owen Fitzpatrick Enterprises sounded like I was a group of small companies… Owen Fitzpatrick Limited sounded like I was limited. So since I teach internationally it became OFI. Someone suggested next step was intergalactic… Not an option… I travel too much as is.

17. I’m not a big fan of volcanos. I like how they look… Just not how they cause me to have to get trains, ferries, buses and cars just to go to work.

18. Conversations with Richard Bandler was a very honest book and Not Enough Hours was a very practical book but neither revealed how incredibly funny I think I am.

19. Im really good at sarcasm… Not. Also I’m terrible… really awful… in fact, I’m a total disaster at self depreciating humor… Deep down I actually love myself and think I’m great… Honest.

20. People misunderstand me. The only people who really know how self absorbed, arrogant and neurotic I am are my friends… And they don’t care. To understand me put a smilee face at the end of every sentence.

21. Sometimes I have moments where I am not happy, relaxed, confident and brilliant. This is an unfortunate and annoying condition I’ve inherited known as being human.

22. My influences include:

My mam and dad… Marjorie and Brian Fitzpatrick, my friends, Richard Bandler, Jim Rohn, John Lavalle, Brian Colbert, Paul McKenna, David Northrop, Joel Roberts, Elizabeth Dunne, James Sibenius and Eric Robbie.

23. I am self absorbed but not as much as this post suggests.
